We find products in Indonesia that can be mined or harvested from the ground and the forest — and we carry them all the way to the customer ourselves. No agent, importer or wholesaler takes a margin along the way. We share that saving with you.
Why it costs less with us
Our process starts where the product comes out of the ground or off the tree, and ends at the customer. None of the links in between belong to somebody else.
You pay for the goods and the processing — not for the four companies it usually passes through on the way.
We keep our sales operation small on purpose. The money stays in the product instead of going into marketing.
Batch certificates, legality papers and measured numbers travel with the goods. We also publish what our products cannot do.
Origin
Everything we sell comes from the same place: an archipelago that spans three time zones, sits in the most species-rich waters on earth and rests on some of the most mineral-rich ground there is.
The islands sit where several continental plates collide, and volcanic activity has laid ash and rock over them layer by layer. That is why the ground below holds nickel, tin, copper, bauxite and zeolite — and why the soil above it is so fertile.
Wallace's Line runs straight through the archipelago, the invisible border between Asian and Australian animal life. Elephant, tiger and orangutan on one side, marsupials and birds of paradise on the other. The sea around it belongs to the Coral Triangle, the richest reef region on the planet.
The rainforests of Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi and Papua are among the oldest still standing, and it was the spices from these islands that pulled world trade eastward for centuries. Moringa, vanilla and hardwood grow here without being forced.
That wealth is not inexhaustible. How it is brought up is therefore part of the product.

Moringa leaf grown on the limestone island of Madura, dried within hours of picking and milled to powder at source. We sell whole dried leaf, milled — not extract. Every batch is tested before it ships.

One mineral from one deposit in Lampung, Sumatra — mined, milled and shipped by us. Clinoptilolite holds ammonium and water by ion exchange; it does not decompose and it does not wash out. Seven applications, from water treatment to animal bedding.

We work to make our harvesting, production and sales sustainable and environmentally sound. Where that cannot be done 100%, we compensate by planting trees with part of our profits.
We want to show that responsible environmental and sustainable practice can be combined with a business that makes money. That part is, in fact, a large part of the motivation behind all of it.
No chain is clean the whole way. Where ours is not, part of the profit goes into planting rather than into a claim.
Without new forest there is no business in thirty years. That is operating economics, not charity.
Partner
Trees4Trees is an Indonesian non-profit — an activity of the foundation Yayasan Bumi Hijau Lestari — which has been planting trees since 2007 and was registered as a nonprofit in 2008. It works on reforestation in partnership with local communities, together with the education programmes around it.
The model is that seedlings are raised with local partners and given free of charge to local landowners, who are granted ownership of the trees in return for committing to plant and care for them. Which species go in the ground is decided together with the farmer whose land they will stand on — Trees4Trees suggests a mix suited to the plot's soil, exposure and the farmer's own economics, but the choice is the farmer's.
Gratierne contributes to Trees4Trees, which has planted more than 17.8 million trees together with over 90,000 local families.

Today we sell primarily into the Danish market. It is also why we can sell as cheaply as we do: no middlemen, and a willingness to share the profit with our clients.
The name is Danish for the three graces.
